Our Story

Made by hand, made to be lived with

Celestyn began with a simple belief — that the walls of a home deserve something warm, tactile and quietly considered. Every piece is cut, shaped and finished by hand in London, from timber we source with care.

The beginning

Where it started

Celestyn grew out of a small workshop and a fascination with grain — the way a single length of timber can hold years of quiet growth, and how the right cut lets that story show. What began as pieces made for our own home soon became something we wanted to share.

Working from Staines, on the western edge of London, we make wall art that feels less like decoration and more like a companion for a room. Each design starts on paper, is refined at the bench, and is only finished when it feels honest to the hand as well as the eye.

We are a small operation by choice. That keeps us close to the craft, close to the materials, and close enough to answer the phone ourselves when you have a question about a piece.

The craft

A slower way of making

There are no shortcuts hidden inside a Celestyn piece. From the first selection of a board to the final coat of oil, the process is deliberate — and it shows in the finish.

01

Selecting the timber

We choose each board for its grain and character, favouring sustainably sourced wood with a story worth keeping.

02

Cutting & shaping

Each form is cut and shaped by hand, guided by the natural movement of the grain rather than fighting against it.

03

Sanding & finishing

Hours of sanding bring out a warm, tactile surface, then oils and waxes deepen the tone and protect the wood.

04

Ready to hang

Every piece is checked, hung-tested and carefully packed, arriving ready to find its place on your wall.

Materials & values

Sustainably sourced, honestly finished

We believe good materials are the quiet foundation of good work. The timber we use is chosen for durability and beauty, and sourced responsibly so that every piece feels like something to keep rather than replace.

We finish with natural oils and waxes that let the wood breathe and age gracefully — no heavy plastics, no synthetic sheen. Over time the surface will settle and mellow, much as good wood should.

  • Sustainably sourced wood, chosen for grain and longevity
  • Natural oil and wax finishes that age well
  • Handmade in small batches, never mass produced
  • Carefully packed and delivered across the UK
